Pirate Cookies

palm tree cookie cutter
parrot cookie cutter
skull and crossbones cookie cutter
beach towel cookie cutter (map)
school bus cookie cutter (bottom of cannon)
red food color
orange food color
yellow food color
leaf green food color
sky blue food color
purple food color
brown food color
black food color
brown food color marker
moonstone silver luster dust
old gold luster dust
grain alcohol
Icing required: Prepare run sugar icing in the following colors: white, red, orange, yellow, light green, dark green, light blue, blue, purple, light brown, brown, gold (mixing yellow with a bit of orange), black.

Special Baking Instructions:
The treasure chest and pirate hat was hand cut following a pattern using card stock. The cannon was made by using a school bus cutter. Cut the top fourth off of the bus and angle the front to rest the cannon. The cannon was hand cut following a pattern using card stock. The two were pieced together before being baked.

Instructions:
Parrot: Outline the parrot and all the details with black run sugar icing. Allow the outline to set. Fill in the beak with orange run sugar icing. Fill the face with white run sugar icing. Allow the face to set. Pipe a dot with black run sugar icing. Fill in the back feathers with red, yellow and blue run sugar icing. Fill in the head and body with red, yellow and blue run sugar icing and immediately marbleize.
Skull and crossbones: Outline the skull and bones with black run sugar icing. Outline the mouth black run sugar icing. Outline and fill the eyes with black run sugar icing. Allow the black outlines to set. Fill in the outlines with white run sugar icing.
Palm tree: Outline each palm and the trunk with black run sugar icing. Allow the outlines to set. Fill in the trunk with brown run sugar icing. Fill in the palms half with light green and half with green. Immediately marble.
Cannon: Outline the cannon and all the details with black run sugar icing. Allow the outlines to set. Fill in the bottom part with brown run sugar icing. Fill in the center of the wheels and the handle with white run sugar icing. Allow to set. Paint the center of the wheels and the handle with moonstone silver dust mixed with grain alcohol. Fill in the top part of the cannon with black run sugar icing.
Pirate hat: Outline the pirate hat with black run sugar icing. Allow the black outline to set. Fill in the outline with black run sugar icing. Pipe the skull and crossbones using white run sugar icing.
Map: Outline the map and the island using black run sugar icing. Allow the black outlines to set. Fill in the rolled part of the map with white run sugar. Fill in the background of the map with light blue run sugar icing. Fill in the island with ivory run sugar icing. Immediately pipe the mountain using purple and white run sugar. Immediately pipe the palm trees using green and brown run sugar icing. Allow the island to set. Pipe an X using red run sugar. Draw the dashed lines using a brown food color marker.
